MILO® 3in1 A.P.E.X. Running Clinic Promotes Improved Running Experience

There has been a recent surge in the popularity of running as a way to stay in shape and lose weight. These days, everyone’s tying on their running shoes and taking to the streets in the hope of getting a runner’s naturally lean and toned body.

But there’s another side to this increase in interest, one that you don’t often hear about.  First, there are people who have taken up the hobby but have not achieved the results that they wanted.  Second, there’s the equally sudden rise in running-related injuries.   People tend to explain away these things – maybe the weight loss isn’t happening because they’re not doing it often enough, they’d say.  Or they’d attribute a sprained ankle or a pulled muscle to undesirable conditions, faulty gear, or just plain bad luck.

While that might be true in some cases, it isn’t always so.  Injuries are often are caused by bad form or a preexisting condition that the runner was not aware of.  It may seem simple, but running is not an exercise that anyone with a pair of rubber shoes can take on.  It requires some preparation, without which novices run the risk of injury as in any strenuous activity.  Also, although weight loss is a possibility when doing any cardiovascular activity, your body has to be prepared to maximize the benefits of the exercise.

That’s why fans of the sport try to get some expert advice before taking it up on a regular basis.  Some consult with sports medicine practitioners while others join running clinics and groups.

But with all the different running groups and clinics out there, which one is best for you?  Your best bet lies with a clinic that is based on scientifically sound principles, and uses the same techniques to train and condition a novice’s body as it would to keep an elite athlete in top form.

The MILO® 3in1 A.P.E.X. Running Clinic is one such group.  Already in its third season, the clinic was created to condition running enthusiasts to get the most out of the sport in terms of enjoyment and health.  Based on scientific principles, it makes the exercise more enjoyable, more sustainable and more efficient newbies and enthusiasts alike.

“This is the best place to start,” says Coach Jim Saret. “We have pioneered a different approach to running.  Instead of concentrating on mileage, we concentrate on conditioning and training.  We help your body become stronger, fitter, and that helps you run better.”  This method is so effective that 99 percent of clinic members beat their own personal records within months of starting training.

The best part of this kind of training is that with a fitter body, you are better equipped to participate and enjoy more activities.  The variety leads you into an active lifestyle, which is easier to maintain even without intensive effort.  If your concern is health and weight loss, then this is a safer, more sustainable and surer way to do it.

Who would know better about rapid (yet safe) weight loss than the participants of the first-ever Pinoy Biggest Loser Competition? Indeed, three previous contestants from the blue team continue their training under their former coach and weight loss trainer.

Eric Limatog, Joy Siy and JM Oloris continue to fight the battle of the bulge while inspiring many others to do the same.  “Kung ako nga, kaya ko, eKaya rin nila yan,” says Siy, sending a message to the people who don’t believe themselves to be healthy enough to take up a high-impact exercise like running.  “It’s such an enjoyable activity, and it’s really something you can even do on your own after you’re done with the training.  And to think, everyone here, they have work.  There’s really no excuse any more to [stay unfit].

Having a group to work out with helps you keep motivated, no matter how hard it can get.  “No pain, no gain,” says Oloris, who admits that after leaving the camp, he found it harder to keep on losing weight in order to reach his target of 170 lbs. The running clinic has helped him keep his focus.  “Ang [limitations] ng tao, nasa isip lang yan, eBasta nasa isip mo, kaya mo, buo ang paniniwala mo na gagawin mo, maabot mo.  Kaya nga ako, andito, kahit minsan nahihirapan din.”

Limatog is considerably trimmer and much closer to his desired weight.  He’s also in the group that aims to run the 21k leg in the MILO® Marathon this year.  The Marathon is a rite of passage for all the clinic members; it’s the goal that they are working toward throughout their training.  They all aspire to at least finish at a new level, or beat the records that they had set the season before.

For Limatog, finishing the 21k leg will be a quiet testimony to all the hard work he has been putting into getting fit again.  All this, he says, is due to his renewed commitment, which he discovered through the MILO® 3in1 A.P.E.X. Running Clinic.  This continued pursuit of health has helped him lose a whopping 109 lbs.
