NESCAFÉ Soundskool Mentorship Program: An inspiring experience for college bands

GET the chance not just to meet but learn from your music idols in NESCAFÈ Soundskool 2008.

That’s right. The biggest and most exciting college band competition in the country not just gives you a shot at fame; it likewise equips its finalists with the knowledge and tools to become successful.

And no less than the country’s leading names in music serve as their mentors. In fact, in the NESCAFÈ Soundskool 2007 contest, the country’s biggest bands like Sandwich, Sugarfree, Hale, Spongecola, Imago, Rivermaya, Itchyworms, Urbandub, Coffeebreak Island, JR Kilat, and Moonstar 88 served as the finalists’ mentor-bands.

Learning from their idols
Under the mentorship program, the final contenders are provided pieces of advice and inspiration from the Philippines’ band icons.

“It was a very rare opportunity to be with our idols,” said the members of Lazy Susan, the winners of the 2008 NESCAFÈ Soundskool. “Hale (who served as their mentor-band) is one of the top bands in the country and we learned a lot from them.”

Martin Protacio of SOTC, meanwhile, said, “Sa TV land naming sila napapanuod, ngayon kasama na namin sila.”

Jim Bacarra of Ernville added, “It was a rare opportunity to be with our idols.”
