How I like my NESCAFÉ
April 2009
IT’S so easy to forget who we really are in the sea of conformity. We easily adapt to certain trends, may it be fashion, music or gadgets. But sometimes, we break out of the mold and put our personal stamp on things.
From establishment-issued uniforms (accessorize to make it your own) to a simple notebook, the desire is to make them more our own. Such is our collective need to express our individuality.
And it couldn’t have been more pronounced than in the way we enjoy a cup of NESCAFÉ.
Take Atty. Maria Agatha Sindico for example. A legal consultant with an erratic schedule, Sindico says she likes her NESCAFÉ simple and in her word, “straightforward.”
“I like it dark. I’m a no-frills kind of person. So for me, nothing can be better than taking it simply black. I want my cup of NESCAFÉ pure and you know, honest,” she says.
Others, on the other hand, like their NESCAFÉ sweet. “Two to three teaspoons of sugar in my cup do it for me. I have a sweet tooth so coffee this way is enjoyable,” restaurant owner and chef Annabelle Javier says.
Javier also shares that her training as chef has made her more adventurous with food in general, and coffee in particular.
“I like playing with flavors,” she adds. “For my cup of NESCAFÉ, I usually put a dash of cinnamon or cocoa powder. It’s quite exciting mixing it up with other flavors.”
Cold coffee, unsurprisingly, is how many young people like it, just like law student Von Cuerpo. While he and his classmates and friends would occasionally go out to get cold coffee in a coffee shop, Von prepares his cup of coffee cold when at home.
“A glass of iced NESCAFÉ is my idea of the perfect drink,” says Cuerpo. “It somehow relaxes me after a toxic day in school. I don’t like to think about school when I’m at home or hanging out with my friends. I would just like to chill. And a cold glass of NESCAFÉ allows me to do just that.”
If Cuerpo likes it cold, CJ Salvador, a graphics artist, likes his cup of NESCAFÉ hot and bitter.
“I like it strong,” Salvador explains. “Most of my friends like their coffee sweet. But me, I take it black. I like the way it jolts me to full wakefulness and how each sip is like a revelation of taste. My friends find that quite perplexing about me. What can I say? I like surprising people.”
Indeed, a cup of NESCAFÉ is not just a cup of coffee. Whichever way you like it or take it, a cup of NESCAFÉ is actually you in a cup. |
