Ramon Orlina’s obra maestro for NESCAFÉ Gold

Ramon Orlina’s glass sculptures—from the 70s to the present—all manifest brilliant and exceptional allure.
From his debut work, “ARCANUM XIX Paradise Gained” at the Silahis International Hotel, to his current “TETRAGLOBAL” project for the 400th anniversary of the University of Santo Tomas, this internationally reknown artist has successfully sculpted passion in glass.
Passion sculpted in glass
The defining traits of Orlina’s work are their depth and fluidity, qualities that only true passion can evoke. Looking at his sculptures like “Dancing Silhouette”, as seen in NESCAFÉ Gold’s latest campaign featuring world-class Filipino artists—is like beholding sublimity itself.

Orlina graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from UST in 1965 and marked his debut as a glass sculptor in 1976.
From then on, he has staged numerous solo and group exhibits in Asia, Europe and North America.
Orlina’s list of honors and accolades is endless. These include a 1st prize award in the 2000 International Biennial of Basketball in the Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain; the 1999 “Mr. F. Prize” in the Toyamura International Sculpture Biennial in Japan; the 2004 Outstanding Manilan Award in Arts & Sculpture, 2001 Outstanding Thomasian Alumnus Award in the field of Visual Arts, The Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Award 2006 in the field of ARTS, among others.
“His rare talent as a sculptor and artist is not only a great contribution to fine arts but also to Philippine culture,” adds Tongko.
