Coffee helps student
athletes perform better
June 2008
Drinking coffee has been a habit for many student athletes. A number of researches conclude that coffee stimulates the mind and reduces discomfort and fatigue that athletes experience when training and competing. With NESCAFE 3in1, it has become easier for them to prepare coffee despite being busy balancing their studies and sports training.
Three student athletes from different schools share the benefits they get from drinking coffee.
Dior Dy of UP Diliman
Dior always juggles her time as a student and an athlete. As a scholar, she must perform well in school because she has to maintain excellent grades. After all her classes, group meetings, and assignments, Dior goes straight to the gym for her basketball training.
“It’s really hard to be a student athlete especially that I have a lot of school stuff to accomplish”, Dior says.
Thankfully, she has NESCAFE 3in1 as her partner in coping with her hectic schedule. Every morning, Dior makes sure she drinks coffee to be more active in class.
“I can stay attentive to my teachers and participate in class discussions when I drink coffee”, Dior shares. Regular coffee intake also helps Dior develop her skills and be the best basketball player she can be.
Coffee intake has been proven to help athletes perform better. According to positivelycoffee.org, coffee has the ability to improve sports performance by 12.4% especially if athletes train or exercise for a longer duration.
Dior only drinks NESCAFE 3in1 to have her daily dose of coffee. She likes this beverage because it is easy to prepare.
“Making a cup of NESCAFE 3in1 is fuss-free so I can instantly have coffee anytime with my friends”, she says.
John Carlo Tiuseco of San Sebastian College
Waking up early in the morning to train and to go to school used to be difficult for John Carlo. But ever since coffee has become part of his mornings, his school loads and intense track-and-field training has become more manageable.
“Coffee perks me up, helps me focus on my studies, and improves my performance as an athlete”, John Carlo says.
No report or assignment is left undone if John Carlo has a cup of coffee. It gives him the energy he needs in studying and finishing his school tasks. Coffee is also his secret weapon to increase his tolerance to exercise and train for longer hours.
Significant researches have reported that taking coffee positively affects the performance of people who do intense exercises such as running, swimming, and cycling.
Aside from helping him perform better on the tracks, John Carlo likes NESCAFE 3in1 because of its delicious taste.
“NESCAFE 3in1 has the perfect mix of coffee, creamer, and sugar,” the twenty two-year old student athlete explains.
Kevin dela Rosa of Mapua Institute of Technology
Basketball sportsman Kevin also enjoys coffee everyday. Studying and basketball training have become a lot easier for him especially if he drinks his much-loved beverage. He likes to have an ice-cold NESCAFE 3in1 whenever he is busy in school.
“Coffee helps me remember and understand my lessons”, Kevin says.
Positivelycoffee.org says that coffee improves mental performance because it helps in processing the information students read from their books.
Kevin has also made drinking coffee part of his daily sports diet. He prepares coffee before heading to his daily basketball training.
“NESCAFE 3in1 is such a fun way to drink coffee while training,” says the varsity player.
Kevin does not get tired easily when he is playing basketball especially after drinking coffee. Many research groups and organizations have concluded that another health advantage of drinking coffee is it delays the onset of fatigue.
NESCAFE 3in1 has been Kevin’s companion when he goes to school. Even though he has a very busy schedule, he still manages to prepare coffee. He always brings sachets of NESCAFE 3in1 with him so he can have his favorite drink anytime, anywhere.
“NESCAFE 3in1 is very convenient for people like me who are very active”, says the 24-year old student athlete.
