Why oats is good for you!!!

These days, chronic health conditions are so prevalent in our society. For these, diet, exercise and stress-reduction techniques are introduced to control, if not totally eliminate such health conditions. In terms of diet, focus has been given on the benefits of increased whole grain consumption.

Oats stand out as an exceptional whole grain solution because of its role in cholesterol reduction, diabetes management, blood pressure maintenance, and weight control.

More than just a bowl of a hot and filling breakfast, oatmeal in fact is one of the best sources of soluble fiber, which help reduce total cholesterol along with LDL or what is commonly referred to as “bad” cholesterol.

When we say “soluble fiber”, it means that it is the kind that dissolves in water. This means that the body then turns it into a kind of thick, viscous gel, which moves very slowly through the body. The good thing here is that the stomach stays fuller for a longer period of time preventing frequent snacking, thus help in weight control. The soluble fiber content of oats also slows the absorption of carbohydrates into the bloodstream. This results in smaller rises and falls in blood sugar levels, benefiting diabetics as well.
