What is the theory behind Veterinary Acupuncture?
In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s believed that energy flows through the body along specific channels called meridians. That energy can become blocked by forces ranging from stress and fear to infections, poisons, and poor nutrition. These forces are thought to cause disharmony in a person’s physical or emotional state and lead to illness.
Acupuncture is intended to restore health-promoting balance and harmony by releasing the flow of blocked bio-energy, or qi. This is accomplished by inserting needles at specific points under the skin. Dogs, cats, and horses, have similar acupuncture points to humans, so this healing art is practiced with them much the same as it would be applied to you or any other person.
