Nestlé Engages Business Partners in Driving School Safety Program

Nestlé Philippines gathered 36 safety officers from different worksites and partner companies at Nestlé Center in Rockwell on September 9 to roll out Safetyskwela, a daylong workshop tackling safety in schools and on the road.

The safety education program was developed by Corporate Affairs Executive Jess Reyes, in partnership with the SCM Transport team led by Angie Santor. The objective is to teach Nestlé-adopted schools how to develop their own safety program through fun and interactive classroom activities where road signs, hazards, and critical errors are simulated. Although designed for Grade 4-6 students, the Safetyswela modules target a bigger and wider reach, including teachers who are encouraged to use these modules in the classroom to teach their students.

The roll-out workshop was facilitated by Jess Reyes of Corporate Affairs and transport partners Robert Yabut of Magsaysay Transport and Logistics Group, Abegail Cordon of Trakwell, and Anthony Manahan of Fast Logistics. OJTs Abel Maningas and Cris Villanueva of Corporate Affairs also helped in the conduct of the workshop.

Participants in this run of Safetyskwela were expected to cascade the workshop in their own adopted schools to assist them in formulating safety programs. This was in line with Nestlé’s goal to create a culture of safety in the communities.
