Nestlé Partners with DepEd on Youth Development

Nestlé Philippines, Inc has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) on a new youth development initiative that supports both DepEd’s K-12 program and the Nestlé Needs Youth Program. Corporate HR Director Mitzie Antonio and DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement on this partnership at the DepEd office on August 10, 2017 along with Nestlé Needs Youth Market Lead, Gracy Dandan and DepEd Asst. Secretary G. H. Ambat.

Called Nesting Your Future at Nestlé, the program aims to help senior high school students get ready for tertiary education and prepare for the world of work by giving them a two-week immersion in Nestlé operations, where they are expected to learn about the Company’s culture and values. The two-week exposure is designed to give them valuable real-life work experience in a top-notch company such as Nestlé, expand their perspective of career possibilities, acquire knowledge on how to make themselves “Ready for Work,” understand their role in the community, and inspire them to aim higher and do better in the future.

“This is an initiative that we are truly proud of,” said Mitzie. “It’s a testament that we are living our corporate values of Respect for Diversity and Respect for the Future, which supports our purpose to enhance quality of lives and contribute to a healthier future.”

The program will kick off its pilot run on November 13 to 24, 2017 with 20 top students from Pitogo High School in Makati as the first batch of “Nesters”. These Nesters will be immersed in the different departments in the Makati Admin Office, such as Human Resources, Marketing, Corporate Affairs for CSV, Sales, Inno-Reno, Finance, and Accounting. At the end of the two-week immersion, the Nesters will present their learnings and experiences to selected Nestlé employees, in the presence of their parents and teachers in a culminating program.

“This initiative will allow us to contribute to the global objective of the Nestlé Needs Youth Program, strengthen our organization’s diversity and inclusion and live up to our commitment of Creating Shared Value -- to create impact on the youth, the community, and the society as a whole,” Gracy added.

The Nesting Your Future at Nestlé program is part of Nestlé Needs Youth Program, a global youth initiative that helps young people across the world develop skills and become more employable. The vision of the program is for the youth to eventually have a transformative impact on their families and the community.

The same program is planned to be implemented in CDO, Cabuyao, Lipa, Tanauan, and Wyeth Canlubang Factories, in partnership with identified local public high schools.
