Advocating against use of plastic waste
Wyeth Nutrition is committed to nurturing a healthier generation of Filipino children not only by providing them with quality nutrition but also by ensuring that they grow up in a thriving and healthy environment. As part of this commitment, we launched our own plastic pollution reduction program in collaboration with Clean Our Oceans Project, with the aim of continuing to ensure the sustainability of the planet.

What is Designed for Recycling? Designed for Recycling means the packaging used for your product is composed of a single type of plastic (mono-material) that does not need taking apart for it to undergo recycling. However, even if the packaging material is designed to be recycled there are no available recycling facilities in the Philippines yet. Here in the Philippines, we have shifted Bonakid Pre-School, PROMIL, PROMIL Gold, Ascenda Kid packs to mono-material, a simpler material that is easy to recycle. In supporting these brands, you too are helping shape a waste-free future. -
Why is it important? By shifting our packaging to easy-recycle materials, we continue to work towards a waste-free future together. Doing so opens the possibility of significantly reducing the amount of post-consumer waste that can leak out into our oceans and waterways through proper segregation, collection, and processing. -
What else must be done to make our packaging recyclable in the Philippines? As we continue to innovate with our packaging, there is also a need to build and improve on the plastics value chain in the country. A big gap in the Philippines is the absence of recycles. By shifting to mono-material packaging, we are helping create a supply of ready feed stock for recycling facilities. We hope to encourage recyclers to view the Philippines as a viable country for investment with a growing demand for processors. This, in turn, can help us accelerate towards a working circular economy for the country.
Made with 100% Renewable Electricity
What do we mean by 100% Renewable Electricity?
In the Philippines, all of Nestlé’s electricity needs are sourced from local, renewable energy sources like geothermal and hydroelectric powerplants. These energy sources generate the electricity we use for all our Philippine factories and our main office in Makati. Transitioning to these sources allows us to reduce our GHG footprint1 by avoiding the use of more traditional energy sources like coal, gas, and other fossil fuels in our operations, ultimately bringing us closer to our global 2050 Net Zero ambitions.
What’s the difference between renewable electricity and renewable energy?
While similar sounding, these two concepts do have slight differences. Renewable energy refers to the energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed.1 When energy from these sources is used to produce electricity, we get renewable electricity. To put it simply, think of renewable energy as the raw material and renewable electricity as the final product that we, at Nestlé Philippines, use to power the production of the brands that you love.
