Being a Kasambuhay for the Environment
As the Kasambuhay for the Environment, we strive to reach our ambition to make our packaging 100% recyclable or reusable by 2025, and to reduce our virgin plastic use by 1/3 within the same time frame. We also aim that none of our plastic packaging ends up in nature that is why starting in August 2020 until today, we have been collecting and repurposing the equivalent amount of plastic we put out in the market.
What can we do to be a Kasambuhay for the Environment?
Addressing plastic waste is a complex challenge that requires support from key sectors. We believe in collaborating with partners and consumers in order to make lasting positive impact on the environment. We are engaged in various efforts that encourage a change in behavior in order to make a waste-free future a reality. These efforts include solid waste management modules co-developed with experts. This year, they have been rolled out to thousands of public schools for grades 1-10 students through our partnership with the Department of Education under the Nestlé Wellness Campus program. These solid waste management modules are endorsed by the National Solid Waste Management Commission. A condensed version of these materials are available for download below.
Another effort we are co-driving with partners is the establishment of collection points where everyone can take their plastic waste for further processing. Additionally, we have also put together a list of other locations where you can take your soft plastics so that they do not end up in landfills. We hope the information below helps you in you journey to be a Kasambuhay for the Environment.
