How can you #ChooseGood for the planet?
Get inspiration on how you can choose good to do good for the planet.
In the space of environment and sustainability, we believe that everyone can do their part in helping accelerate our journey towards a Net Zero tomorrow. Through our initiatives, we hope to inspire individuals to join us in our advocacy and embed sustainability in our day to day lives.
Starting with our 5,000 strong Nestlé Philippines employees, we drive and encourage behavior change in their personal lives. We provide opportunities for them to take part in volunteerism activities like closed-loop coastal cleanup drives and reforestation initiatives, to name a few. Since 2022, over 500 volunteers collected and segregated 4,706 kilos of coastal plastic waste and planted over 6,000 native trees.

We also brought together over 400 of our employees who have a strong passion and drive to make a positive impact on our environment and influence others to do the same, our Kasambassadors (Kasambuhay Ambassadors). Through this community, we are able to provide the support that our Kasambassadors need to apply Nestlé’s Net Zero ambitions to their personal lives. We help them discover their answers to the following questions:
- How do I include more recyclable and reusable items?
- How do I lessen my use of virgin plastics?
- How do I lessen my carbon footprint?
We recognize that every person’s experience and circumstances are different and that the practices that work for one Kasambuhay will not necessarily work for another. What is important is that we get to take inspiration from what others are doing and actively seek out those practices that work for us.
What can YOU do?
Starting your journey as a Kasambuhay for the environment can be daunting but there are a few quick and easy steps that you can take today.
Choose to practice the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Most of us have been exposed to the 3 R’s and there’s a good reason for that. These three actions are easy ways for you to lessen the amount of waste that you generate. Additionally, we must always make it a practice to segregate our waste. After segregation, you can drop off your waste in the nearest collection points or Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). You can find nearby collection points with our Plastic Drop Map. You can also reach out to your local baranggay to learn more about MRFs.

Choose to support brands and companies that prioritize sustainability
One way to join the movement is to support brands that embed sustainability in how they do business. You’ll be able to do your part simply by choosing brands that constantly work to lessen their footprint on the environment.

Choose to equip yourself with the right information
Make sure that your actions are based on the right information. Take the time to read up on sustainability topics that interest you. Online groups, communities, and pages are a great place to start to learn from others who are already more advanced in sustainable practices. You can also make use of free-to-use tools and resources online, some of which can be found at the end of this article.
Here are some online groups, communities, and pages that can get you started on your journey:

Choose to inspire your social circle
With an increasing shift towards more personal connections on digital, we are all in a unique position to be our own Kasambassadors within our circle of friends and family. Join the movement and share how you #ChooseGood in your own way and demonstrate that sustainable behaviors don’t have to be difficult. Together, we can all choose good to do good.
