Nestlé Wellness Campus

Data states that 1 out of 5 (20%) Filipino children are stunted*
According to data from the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), 1 out of 5 (20%) Filipino children are stunted. One challenge faced by the younger generation in the Philippines pertains to their insufficient dietary practices and limited availability of nutritious and well-balanced food options.
In response to this situation and in partnership with the Department of Education, we developed the Nestlé Wellness Campus, a school program which teaches public school students and their families the value of proper nutrition and we leveled up our nutrition and physical activity education to address malnutrition.
In partnership with the Department of Education, we created educational resources that would make the work of teachers easier and ensure that students are sustainably learning the value of healthy habits.

Over 10 years of nutritional education for students, parents, and teachers
Established in 2013, the Nestlé Wellness Campus (NWC) is a continuing joint program by Nestlé Philippines and the Department of Education (DepEd) involving 10.5 million school and high school students in the country, educating the students and their parents on how to live a healthy life, by choosing healthier food and drink options and physical activity all year round.
Nestlé Wellness Campus teaches nutrition and solid waste
management to 55% of the public school population.

Our Nestle Wellness Campus initiatives
Nestlé Wellness Campus aims to educate students, parents, and families to make healthier food and lifestyle choices. The program has four key components: student modules which cover key topics on health and environment, wellness dancercise to promote physical activity in a fun and entertaining way, inter-school competitions to recognize the schools with outstanding program implementation, and digital communities in Facebook to support the wellness of parents and teachers.
Curriculum-aligned modules for Grades 1 to 10 students
With NWC's seven healthy habits as a guide and in coordination with the DepEd, we developed modules on nutrition, physical activity, and solid waste management for Grade 1 to 10 students. Wellness Dancercise
A custom dance exercise ("dancercise") was cascaded to 21,000 public schools. A combination of dance and exercise, the Nestlé Wellness Campus Wellness dancercise lets public school students and faculty start their day in a fun and healthy way.
Inter-school and Inter-region competition
Participating schools showcased how they integrated the Nestlé Wellness Campus taught- healthy habits
through school-initiated wellness programs implemented throughout the school year. The top three
schools in the elementary and junior high school categories are awarded cash prizes equivalent to their
final rankings.

Facebook communities
Nestlé Wellness Campus has two Facebook Communities, one for Parents and one for Teachers, that serve as online spaces to get expert advice and at the same time, a support group to guide them on their health and wellness journey.
