The National MILO Marathon is the country’s biggest running event and has been building champions for over 40 years. Held in 16 cities around the Philippines, the race is divided into five categories: the 3km family run, the 5km fun run, the 10km run, the 21km half marathon, and the 42.195km full marathon. From 2014 to 2016, the National MILO Marathon has had approximately 613,974 participants.
A portion of participants' registration fees is applied to MILO's Help Give Shoes advocacy, which gives public school students a pair of running shoes. In 2014, 16,000 shoes were distributed to the typhoon-stricken kids of Tacloban to help them get back on their feet, and in 2015 and 2016, an additional 20,000 shoes were provided to public school children. A total of 36,000 shoes have been distributed to school children during the last 3 years.
The National MILO Marathon is a reflection of Nestlé’s purpose of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future.
