United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and creating a sustainable environment

In harmony with the UN SDGs, we aim to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns to achieve efficient resource use and minimize waste. We strive to transition from sustainability to circularity and regeneration through commitments and efforts on climate, sustainable packaging, and sustainable sourcing.

By 2025, we commit to source 20% of key ingredients through regenerative agricultural methods, expect 95% of our packaging to be recyclable or reusable but remain committed to 100%, and  commit to reduce our virgin plastic use by 1/3 within the same time frame. Our aim is that none of our plastic packaging ends up in nature. From August 2020 until today, we have been collecting and diverting away from nature the equivalent amount of plastic we put in the market.

Why is it important to protect our environment?

Climate change is one of society’s most significant challenges, and we must act urgently when addressing the climate crisis because its effects are already evident. In the Philippines, we are already experiencing frequent disasters such as tropical cyclones, flooding, and landslides due to this climate crisis.

As one of the biggest FMCG companies in the country, we have a corporate responsibility to lessen the carbon footprint and reverse environmental challenges through our Net Zero Roadmap. Our aim is to foster environmental well-being within the community that has played a pivotal role in Nestle Philippines' success, thereby promoting sustainability for both our communities and our business.

Transforming Operations

At Nestlé, we underwent numerous transformative operations to realize our Net Zero Roadmap, including:

  1. Used coffee grounds generate energy for our Nestlé Cagayan de Oro Factory operations to reduce environmental pollution and save energy costs.
  2. 100% renewable electricity used in all our factories and administrative office in the Philippines.

Shaping a waste-free future

We are creating measures to lessen our carbon footprint by developing less plastic packaging, building systems for solid waste management, creating facilities to support segregation, and creating initiatives to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle to our consumers and every Filipino.

Being a Kasambuhay for the environment

We are actively involved in several initiatives aimed at promoting a waste-free future. Working alongside experts, we have developed effective solid waste management modules. We are also driving the establishment of convenient collection points for plastic waste, ensuring it undergoes proper processing, diverting them from ending up in landfills.
